using windows event manager

We have data being processed by a few automatic processes in parallel. some of the processes feed others with input. In order to follow up the progression I would like to generate a log. the event rate is at most 10 per hour. I thought of using the windows event manager for the task. Windows would then take care of listening for the events, remembering the time, and recording an id I send in for each event (I need about 10 types of events). I would then only have to filter out the events with the aid of the event viewer.
How can I submit an event to the windows event logger with Matlab? How can I then retrieve the events with Matlab?
Is there a much simpler way of doing that with Matlab without the Windows event manager?

Hi,
you could write a C/C++ MEX file and use ReportEvent function. From there on consult the Microsoft documentation for examples and further information.
Or maybe .NET makes that easier for you?
