Why am I unable to read binary data using FSCANF?

I am trying to read binary data using FSCANF. My code used to run fine till MATLAB 7.0 (R14SP3). However, I am unable to use the same to code to read data in MATLAB 7.7 (R2008b).

This change has been incorporated into the documentation in MATLAB 7.9 (R2009b). For previous releases, read below for any additional information:

FSCANF can only be used to read formatted data from a file. To read binary data from a file, please use the FREAD function. To learn more about the FREAD function, please refer to the following link:
