As of Jan 2021, the proposed solution is working well to access Microsoft Azure SQL Database from MATLAB. Hopefully, this article helps you. We will begin with setting up Azure SQL Database in Microsoft Azure and later connect to Microsoft SQL database using Database Toolbox.

You may try Azure Directory Authentication if this part of your plan.
