Overview
From solving optimization problems to training AI models, chemical engineers deal with computationally expensive problems both in academic research as well as industry.
In this session, we will be joined by a guest speaker from Shell to share high performance computing applications in industry. MathWorks engineers will demonstrate simple ways to improve and optimize your code that can boost execution speed by orders of magnitude. We will also address common pitfalls in writing MATLAB code, explore the use of the MATLAB Profiler to find bottlenecks, and introduce the use of Parallel Computing Toolbox to solve computationally and data-intensive problems.
Highlights
- High Performance Computing Applications from industry
- Understanding vectorization and best coding practices in MATLAB
- Addressing bottlenecks in your programs
- Incorporating compiled languages, such as C, into your MATLAB applications
- Utilizing parallel computing with multicore processors and GPUs
Who Should Attend
Chemical engineering faculty, students, researchers, industry professionals or anyone interested in accelerating and optimizing MATLAB code
About the Presenter
Aycan Hacioglu oversees Chemical Engineering at MathWorks. With a B.S. and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, she previously taught at the University of Missouri's Chemical Engineering Department for over three years, heavily utilizing MATLAB in her teaching and research. Aycan is eager to share her insights and enthusiasm for applying MathWorks products to chemical engineering challenges.
