Does the $50 student version of matlab not allow the function "dsolve" to work

The dsolve fuction is unrecognized on my student version of matlab. Can anyone explain this error
dsolve('Dx+2*x=0', 'x(0)=10', 't') Undefined function 'dsolve' for input arguments of type 'char'.

Please type
ver
in the command line. If the Symbolic Math Toolbox is not list, then you cannot use dsolve unless you get that toolbox.
