Not able to update from 2018a. Please help

I've typed

C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2018a\bin\win64\update_installer.exe

into my folder, whereas I get:

and when I click "update" I get

Not able to find much useful information in the technical support after this..

I've also downloaded the R2021b version through the add-ons in matlab. However, when i try to run the setup.exe file nothing happens. I do get the user account control window open, but then nothing. I don't even see anything matlab related in the task manager. I've tried to run it as an administrator as well with no luck. I've also tried to place the files in different folders as a depsreate attempt to make it work.
