Variables from workspace not opening

Hello. In my Academic R2020a software, I recently ran into a few issues. This is on Windows 10 also.

The first was a pause that would "linger" on code that I ran 100+ times that took zero time at all. I think I fixed this by running another code at once, as my current one I run section by section.

After the code runs, I tried to open a table in my workspace to then copy over the data to a spreadsheet. When I do this, the normal variable window doesn't open, but the only display is an "X" box in the top left corner. It also shows as it being open, but with a blank screen on the bottom toolbar. No errors appear.

I have restarted the software and computer multiple times. I cannot open a variable from any code. I'm finishing up my analysis for my master's thesis, so any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

After contacting support, I rest my preferences as shown in the link below and now the problem is not there. Thank you to everyone for the help.
