Average frequency Of A Signal

Hi,
Can someone please shed some light on how I can compute the average frequency of a signal?

I would take each frequency, multiply it by the absolute amplitude (weight) of the signal at that frequency, sum those, and divide by the sum of the weights.
This is a weighted arithemtic mean. See the Wikipedia article on Weighted arithmetic mean: Mathematical definition for details.
