xlabel with non italic mu in latex

Hello i want to label my x-axis with Latexcode.

I want it in this format

t / µs

as you can see i need to have the t in italic and the µs in non italic. I used to try this code:

xlabel(['$\it t/ \mathrm{\mu s}$'],'interpreter','latex')

but the Latex interpreter is printing the \mu always in italic is there any posibility to solve this?

You can enter the µ character directly; no need for latex.

xlabel('{\itt} / µs', 'interpreter', 'tex')

Is μ a special case? When I do the following

text(68, 25, "μ = 68", 'HorizontalAlignment', 'center');
text(68, 15, "σ = 4", 'HorizontalAlignment', 'center');

μ renders properly (non italic) but σ shows up as ?.

If I use \sigma instead, σ is rendered as σ.

ps. Even though μ renders properly on screen, it becomes italicized when I save it to an eps file.
