Stress testing to find parameters uncertainty

I used nlinfit to find fitting parameters for a set of data (X,Y) with known uncertainty of each point. I want to find the uncertainty of the fitting parameter. I heard that something called "stress testing" can be used to find the uncertainty of the parameters, but I'm having trouble finding any documents related. Please help.
