what's the relationship between the parameter dialog and the equation described in help file?

Here is an example: the equation used for describing the motion of synchronous in corresponding MATLAB help file is differential equation. Apperantly, the input parameter dialog is T, X, R, while the parameter in differential equation is R and X. There might be certain relationship between these parameters, so can anyone tell me where to find it?
