Do I need both Current AND Voltage as inputs to a battery in SimPowerSystems?

I have data on both the current and the voltage of a PV solar system that I'm inputting separately to a model in SimPowerSystems. I'm trying to send them to a battery. It seems to react reasonably enough when I connect one data stream or another, (when going through the Controlled Current Source block or the Controlled Voltage Source block). However, it seems like I need to have both for the battery to understand really what's going on.
Am I right in my assumption that I need both the current and the voltage inputs for the battery, and if so how can I combine these data streams to carry all the necessary information on the one wire going to the battery, (i.e. the one wire going to the + terminal on the battery)?
Thanks in advance for any help or thoughts on the matter.

For an battery main parameters are Voltage, Ampere Hours (Ah)--> rated capacity and internal resistance..

You only need to connect one or the other. If you apply a voltage, the circuit will calculate the equivalent current, if you apply current, the model will calculate the correct voltage. You can use the fact that you have both curves to validate your model and tune it till both signals line up, regardless of which on that you apply.
