thanks for your answer. I have tried it but it still give me error. I wrote this code,

a=0.258;
theta=0:0.1:2*pi;
y=cos(theta);
fun=@(theta)(abs(y).^a);
Q=integral(fun,0,2*pi)

i assign the theta value and cos(theta) has absolute value.
