Beep sound absent in Matlab Editor section!

I upgraded from 2016a to 2018a. The beep sound does not play when I have an error while using the editor section. When I play beep function and when I have an error on the command window, it does sound. But in the editor there is no sound when an error occurs!!! This feature is widely used! hope they fix this soon! I have tried several things to fix this but with no luck. If someone knows how to fix this please help!

The beep works when my scripts throw an error, as well as when code on the command line throws an error. So I can't reproduce your issue.

Maybe this will help to reproduce the error. If the full script has been run from the command window it does sound. Nevertheless, when running the script section by section using "Run and Advance" the beep does not work.

I've replicated the error, too.

My simple script is merely

t = s;

where s is a non existent variable.

When I run it from the command window, there's a 'ding'. When I run the entire script there's a ding. But when I "Run section", there's no ding but I still get the same error appearing in the command window.

OK, if I do "Run Section" then I can reproduce the error (no beep). I hadn't tried that before since there was no mention of running sections (partial scripts).
