Public View is no longer public

Hi,

Recently, I'm trying to view any Public channel (including my public channel). It opens the channel a second and redirects to the login page. Is there any way to see a public channel without login?

The issue should be resolved. Please let us know if you continue to see the error. You might need to refresh the page.

Did you try the workaround described below?

Also noted the same behaiviour the last couple of days. Using android phone.

Related to this, i can't search for the channel using channel id, it does not show up, but searching using author works, and shows the same link as normally used to access the page, and that link works ok. But using the link without the seach gets you to a breif display of the page and then the logout screen.

This is resolved. If you are still experiencing the issue, please post on this thread.

This issue seems to have suddenly re-appeared. When trying to view any of my public channels when not logged in I am able to view the channel, but after about one second I am logged out and told I have logged out successfully, and can no longer view the channel.
I'm pretty sure this is a repeat of the issue raised in this thread three years ago.
On further checking, I find I only get the problem when trying to view using my (Android) phone. I can view OK on my PC.

Thanks for reporting. We have a fix in progress, but in the meantime please try the following workaround. Go to the thingspeak homepage and click the thingspeak icon in the upper left. Then try to visit a public page again without logging in.

Issue still persists. Clearing cookies does not solve the issue. Navigating to thingspeak.com homepage first, then to my public channel works. Is there a real fix coming soon? There are a couple people with my public channel link and I can't ask them to perform this strange process before trying to view my channel.

It does not solve the issue, but I give you some suggestions.

  1. Tell the direct link of your chart to your friend instead of the link of your channel. Such as "https://thingspeak.com/channels/1175193/charts/2?bgcolor=%23ffffff&color=%23d62020&dynamic=true&results=30&title=Temperature&type=line&xaxis=Time&yaxis=Temperature+%28deg+C%29"
  2. If you want to tell more than 2 charts, give the HTML file which contains your chart information like the file I attached. (you need to change file type from .txt to .html)

I hope these help your issue.

I am still unable to view any public channels without being asked to sign in. Is the issue related to my being asked recently to accept new MatLab/ThingSpeak terms and conditions?

Here's a simple workaround: First navigate to https://thingspeak.com. Then, navigate to the URL of the public channel. It appears you don't even need to be in the same tab - just that you must have visited https://thingspeak.com before directly going to the channel URL.

I'm having the same issue. I can view my public channels for a few seconds but then get taken to a page that says 'You have logged out successfully' with the url thingspeak.com/login?SSOcheck=true, and offers the login fields. I tried removing cookies for TS and I think it worked once, but then the problem came back. Same issue with Chrome or Edge.

We are aware of the issue and are working on a fix. In the meantime, you can remove the problem by clearing the cookies in your browser that relate to MathWorks or ThingSpeak. You may also be able to work around the problem if you try a different browser.

I said it fixed yesterday. But it failed again. Clearing cache and cookies don't change anything. I tried Chrome, Firefox and Edge.

Looks like this issue has to do with cookies.

Here's a simple workaround: First navigate to https://thingspeak.com. Then, navigate to the URL of the public channel. It appears you don't even need to be in the same tab - just that you must have visited https://thingspeak.com before directly going to the channel URL.

Thank you! I'm able to reproduce what you suggested. Works fine for all browsers. I appreciate your advice!

Thank you! Both of the clearing cookies or the trial with different browser didn't work in this morning. However, the issue is fixed now. I hope it works forever.

I'm not able to reproduce what you report. When I click on any public channel listed here, I can see it:

https://thingspeak.com/channels/public

Are you sure the channel you are trying to view is public?
