Investments in Education

Education

MathWorks supports programs that inspire learning and advance education in engineering, science, and math. Our strong commitment to education comes from believing in the power of learning and the ability of engineering, science, and math to find innovative solutions to real-world problems.

Student Competitions

Student engineering competitions inspire the next generation of innovators to learn and develop problem-solving skills. Teams of students throughout the world use MATLAB and Simulink products, financial support, training, and coaching from our staff to achieve competition objectives. MathWorks sponsors student programs that span a variety of disciplines, including automotive, aerospace, systems biology, communications, and robotics.

Museum Partnerships

MathWorks supports museums that stimulate interest in and further understanding of science and technology. From exhibit development to traveling workshops, our museum partnerships help people discover and explore the science that shapes our world. Current partnerships include:

STEM Sponsorships

MathWorks sponsors programs that educate, engage, and encourage students to pursue science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) related studies and careers. These programs include:

Studentships

MathWorks selectively supports engineering students who excel in using our tools to develop innovative solutions to complex problems. We fund a limited number of graduate fellowships and university studentships at:

  • Northeastern University
  • RWTH Aachen
  • Stanford University
  • Technical University of Munich
  • University of California, Berkeley
  • University of Cambridge
  • University of Oxford
  • University of Palermo
  • University of Stuttgart
  • University of Tennessee - Knoxville
  • Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University
  • Worcester Polytechnic University

Curriculum Development

MathWorks supports eligible educational institutions that are committed to using MATLAB, Simulink, and Model-Based Design to explore teaching and learning innovations at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Support is given to select education institutions on an annual basis to help them create new curricula that combine MATLAB and Simulink products with teaching using project-based learning and similar active teaching techniques.
